Welcome to my online weight loss journal. I am on a program called Lean for Life. I started my journey on January 20, 2004 weighing over 363. I use this journal to post my successes, struggles, and trials . I hope that I motivate, inspire and encourage others in the process. I post once a week so come back and see how I am doing.

I always get inspired to keep trying to lose the buldge every time I leave your site.

Finally getting a chance to check in. I have been on vacation so I have missed my last two weigh-ins and entries. This will be a catch up entry for both weeks. My last journal entry talked about no extreme challenges, but that changed with the 4th of July and my vacation. For the 4th, I stayed pretty low carb except for the watermelon which is allowed but in smaller portions than I consumed. I also had some grilled hot dogs which always causes the scale to bounce. Never fails and I don't know why I even eat them. I continued on the MA phase and by my weigh in on the 12th I was up 3 pounds for 189. I talked with the LFL coach that week and was encouraged to not worry about the extra weight. My thought was to leave the grains out of the second week because of the gain, but she suggested that I add it for one meal at day.
I spent half my vacation at home and half at a hotel so that meant eating out. I stayed on plan pretty much at home and as made the best possible choices when I was away. At home I used my new grill and made some tasty healthy meals - artichoke stuffed chicken, hamburger steaks, and fajita chicken with veggies. There was an IHOP next door to the hotel. I had the grilled chicken spinach club salad a couple of time and also the fajita salad (that was not a great choice since it was served in a tortilla shell). I also had gumbo with rice on Sunday night. Monday before leaving we have lunch at Pappadeaux Seafood Kitchen. If you haven't been there, you are missing a treat. I decided on one more splurge and had the Pasta Mardi Gras. Oh it was heaven. I haven't had pasta in a long time and it was full of shrimp, crab, and other tasty seafood. When I made the decision to have the pasta to turn my last day of MA into a prep day. For my weigh in on the 18th, I was 193 and I didn't want to take the call from the coach.
My exercise during my vacation was excellent which is why I was upset about the gain. I expected some, but not that much. After talking to the LFL coach I felt better. She let me throw my tantrum. I was already in the throwing a fit mode when she called. I wanted to know why it was so easy for me to gain weight these days. For example last year I went on a cruise
http://going_down.bravejournal.com/entry/9323 and I maintained my weight with a one pound gain. I kept within the same guidelines of eating - splurging with some options that were not low carb (same as this time). Why would my body gain one then and so much more now? The closer I get to goal the more my body resists getting to where I want it to go. The LFL coach also pointed out that my body loves the range of numbers 192-197 and with some encouragement for me it quickly jumped right back there. Tuesday started a new round and I am ready to get as far away for the 190's as possible. My goal for the next four weeks is to see the 170's even if it's 179. I think it's possible.I am doing great with my minutes. I made good use of the fitness room at the hotel increasing my elliptical minutes to 40 from my previous 37. Because I was on vacation I made a conscious effort to not relax in the exercise department. I am determined to make the 1000 minutes this month. Within the past two weeks, I only have 2 free days logged and for July I have 693 minutes. With 12 days left in the month, I need an average of 25 minutes of day. That's very doable.
